hummus…not just for crackers anymore
When I found out that Sabra was going to be sending me samples of their delicious hummus, I knew that all the work I’d put into this food blog had already paid off. I love just about every single food available on the planet, but hummus – good hummus – ranks right up there at the top for me.
I love that there are so many different things you can do with hummus. It’s so awesome as a spread on sandwiches and wraps (especially the chipotle version) and makes for a super easy addition to appetizers for a party. Layered in a dip or just served with crackers, hummus always rocks!
Sabra hummus has been my favorite for a long time – doesn’t it just seem a bit creamier than other hummus brands? My sister Jolie is a HUGE hummus girl; you can never go to her house without finding one, if not several, containers of it in her fridge. She’s always got the Sabra Greek Olive flavor hanging around, and it’s really awesome on Triscuits. My favorite flavors are the Greek Olive, Chipotle, and Sun-dried Tomato, although after lurking around the Sabra site I noticed they now have some new flavors. I can’t wait to try the Peppadew and Caramelized Onion, and although they’re not new, the Lemon and Jalapeno flavors sound awesome!
The day the box of hummus arrived on my doorstep was a really good day! It was a BIG box and I could hardly contain myself as I paused to take a picture.
The box contained four large containers in different flavors: Classic, Sun-Dried Tomato, Chipotle and Roasted Pine Nuts. Go Sabra!! No sample sizes here, we got the real deal!
I decided to make just a simple appetizer, so I whipped up some baby portabellas with hummus and feta…yum!! I also wanted to find some other recipes using hummus that weren’t your typical add-it-to-a-sandwich-and-call-it-a-day type recipes. Here are a few that sound really yummy!
I plan on trying all of these recipes at some point, especially the mashed potatoes as a side to a Mediterranean themed meal. The casserole sounds easy and delicious, too! So many foods to try and so little time…I need to live until I’m ninety-five so I can try them all! Luckily, hummus is good for me so that’s always a possibility! ;-)

I love hummus and haven’t tried this brand yet. The flavors sound fantastic!
I love love love Sabra hummus. Not only is it super creamy, it’s somewhat more affordable than some other brands. I love mixing the Red Pepper flavor with some salsa and then using it as salad dressing – I dip my fork, stab some lettuce, chew, repeat. These shrooms look tasty, too!
Ohhh you are sooo lucky! Hummus is the food of the gods. I never tire of it. You can’t possibly eat all four cartons. I better come over and help you out. :-)
Ick, I absolutely do not like Sabra hummus. One of my least favourite brands. The portabellas look nice, though.
Their hummus really does seem creamier than others. I’ve only ever tried their sun dried tomato hummus–that’s the only one they sell at Costco–but I really like it!
I love and buy this brand, as well as friends here in NJ. How great it must have been to open that box! Saw you on ‘The Other Tiger’, and came to see what you are all about!
hi! Thanks for visiting my blog :)
LOVE Hummus: I’m a bit jealous (ok, super jealous) you got these samples…lol.
I guess I’ll just continue to make my own hummus.
Lamb and hummus is a great combo!
