mango banana smoothie – it’s what’s for dinner!
Freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh mango and banana blended with organic honey-flavored yogurt fresh from the dairy farm. Yeah, it’s what’s for dinner. Or at least it could be, if you’re into thick, delicious healthy drinks that fill you up. It could be dessert, too. Or just a really groovy way to get things going in the early morning. Really, I can’t make all the decisions around here, you’re on your own for this one. But you do need to make this smoothie, and soon.
I’d give a recipe but I just tossed in what I had in my kitchen. I used one whole mango, one very ripe banana (banana ripeness is important in smoothies for maximum flavor), the juice of two whole oranges and that yogurt I mentioned, scored last weekend at the farmer’s market. You can use any yogurt you’ve got on hand, but if it’s not sweet enough for you then toss in a tablespoon or two of honey. I prefer my smoothies without all that ice to water down the flavors, but I suppose you could toss some in if you feel you must. Or just stick it in the freezer for twenty minutes if it’s not cold enough for you. But can you really wait that long before all the healthy goodness starts doing its work?
Didn’t think so! ;-)

That looks healthy and refreshing. Summer days are coming and this is perfect!
I love smoothies!!
It's funny … I love mangoes, but really don't like anything made from mangoes. I can't explain it!
Sounds yummy. Approximately how much yogurt did you add to this much fruit? I have some vanilla yogurt that would be a good combo for this.
Hi 8chocolate! I had a one pint container that (I'm guessing here) was about 2/3 full; I just dumped in everything I had left. Vanilla would be really good in this!
I'm making this RIGHT NOW – bought mango's yesterday so this is perfect! Thanks. I also love making mango salsa (which I actually bought the mangos for!) This recipe of yours is like Health in a Glass! YUM
Wow, that smoothie looks very delicious! I just checked out your guest blog with your chocolate cups and just wanted to leave you a little note that they looked really mouth watering!
Hah! That really made me laugh – thanks!
Hi Kristy,
I just got back from Thailand where there are fruit shakes everywhere, and started making my own just like your 'recipe'.
In the tropics, and in the desert (where I am now) there is no hesitation to putting some ice in the mix. Cooler is cooler.
Cheers,
ken

Who doesn't like mango smoothies. Sounds good. My kids really like the idea of smoothies for dinner. I've been trying to serve fast healthy meals for dinner and came across an really great cook book called "Let's Cook Tonight" by Gigi Centaro. I'm really using it a lot for help with dinner.
