Living just south of LA in the neighboring OC, we used to have all sorts of celebrity sightings. Christian Slater when he was still the “it” boy, Nicole Kidman in the midst of her divorce from Tom Cruise, and you couldn’t walk out my front door without the nuisance of Dennis Rodman. I never dreamed in those days that “chef-sightings” could ever be something I’d be giddy over, especially since my tiny apartment-on-the-beach didn’t even have a kitchen sink, let alone a stove to cook on (and even if it had, I would have only used it to store my surplus of shoes and the beer that didn’t fit in the fridge).

Yep, times have changed, and now the celebrities at the top of my list to meet are definitely chefs. And Friday, I get to meet one of my favorites! And eat his food, and chat during a quick photo op. Squee!! It’s Chef Marcus Samuelsson, and if you don’t know who he is, then you’ve been living under a food rock! He’s an amazing chef, cookbook author, award-winning restauranteur and has an amazing backstory. To top it all off, he recently beat out 21 other chefs on Top Chef Masters and won $115,000 for the UNICEF Tap Project.

The good news is that you can meet him, too! He’ll be in DC with “Macy’s Chefs A-Go-Go,” a national food truck tour showcasing the Macy’s Culinary Council.
