shortbreads and a cookie stamp {giveaway}

I’ll bet you didn’t know that I used to really be into scrapbooking. I mean, really into it. I took a job doing the payroll for a company just south of LA (hey there, Kilroy Realty folks!) and made some really great friends there. We somehow all caught the scrapbooking bug at the same time; we’d actually go to scrapbooking stores on our lunch hour every week or so, go to each other’s homes for lengthy “scrap sessions” and even attended scrapbooking classes together.
And then I had a child and never picked it up again. I literally have thousands of dollars worth of scrapbooking supplies in boxes in our basement. I’ve thought about selling it but I think it will really come in handy as my girls grow and need to make projects for school (or just for fun).
So I was excited when Elizabeth from Stampin’ Up sent me this fun Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamp. It had never occurred to me that I could combine stamping and baking into one fun project! These were beyond fun to bake with and we’re going to be making a second batch to give to the girls teachers, bus drivers and friends. It’s best to use a shortbread recipe so I’ve included my favorite one below. And guess what? You can win one of these fun cookie stamps, too! It comes with three kinds of stamps: a snowflake for Christmas, heart for Valentine’s Day and a jack o’lantern for Halloween.
To win, simply leave a comment below. That’s it! You can come back each day and leave a comment for extra entries, just saying hello, letting me know how life is treating you or even what’s on your xmas list :-) The contest is only open to US residents and will run until this Friday, Dec 16th at midnight EST. I’ll let the winner know on Saturday so the stamp can be shipped out asap.
Shortbread Cookies
- 4 sticks butter, softened (use real butter!)
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 t pure vanilla extract
- 4 cups flour
Directions
- Cream butter and sugar until fluffy (this might take a couple of minutes; patience is nice here;) Add vanilla and give a quick stir until incorporated. Add flour a cup at a time, mixing well between each addition.
- Form cookies as desired (I like to use a cookie press or the cookie stamp) and place on cookie sheets.
- Bake for 10 – 12 minutes.
Note: There are directions that come with the cookie stamp which you should follow when using.

It's very very rare that I enter giveaways, but…um…Kristy…I want this! Also? "I had a child and never picked 'it' up again." I know that one. Just fill in the blank. Sigh.
I have never used a cookie stamp! It looks like a great way to spruce up shortbread cookies.
Cute, sounds like fun.
I always wanted to try cookie stamping.
These look great! My mom used to do this!
I am such a happy RSS subscriber. I am also a big fan of Stampin Up and would love to win the cookie press. Thanks for the chance. That recipe looks yummy.
I remember using stamps like these with my Mom when I was little! We had a flag and a bunny, and they were the ONLY way to make Peanut Butter Cookies!
I just bought a cuttlebug! I love this stuff! It's a whole new world. This is the coolest giveaway.

I bought a cookie stamp (holly n berries) over 20 yrs ago and I use it for other cookies too – it's easier to press down cookies with that than a glass since it's terra cotta.
The best shortbread recipe I've ever had. And the cookie press really works!!!
Great recipe! I would love this cookie press! :)
So much easier than spritz cookies!
I didnt know you used to scrapbook! Somehow I just cant see you doing that! Too funny.
I just love you :) I am a scrapper myself!
Leaving a comment on behalf of @ICanCookThat b/c disqus won't let her for some reason. Good luck!! :-)
I think Stamping Up gave thousands in product to the Today Show toy drive. Brava for them!
I'm attending a Christmas sweater cocktail party tonight (ugly is in the eye of the beholder).
Thanks for the fun giveaway.
