Banana, Chocolate and Peanut Butter Smoothie – tastes like an ICE CREAM SHAKE but has good-for-you, low-calorie ingredients!
This awesome recipe is sponsored by Bob’s Red Mill.
I cannot profess my love for this ice cream shake enough!
Wait…I forgot. It’s not actually a shake. There’s no ice cream in it at all. And I don’t add anything additional to sweeten it. Yet it tastes just like I’m drinking a delicious, desserty, gonna-stick-to-my-hips SHAKE.
I’ve been drinking a version of this for over a year now and I’ve intended on snapping a pic and sharing it with you for eons. Turns out, it’s a good thing I didn’t because now I get to share an even better version.
The old version is a banana and peanut butter smoothie and has just four ingredients: one whole banana, a couple tablespoons peanut butter powder (which, if you haven’t tried, you MUST…it’s amazing and perfect for your smoothies!), ice and almond milk. Everyone I’ve made it for (my parents, kids, friends, boyfriend) all get wide-eyed at their first sip because they can’t believe how good it is.
But you guys…this version is even better. Because now I’ve discovered Bob’s Red Mill Chocolate Protein Powder Nutritional Booster! It has Chia and Probiotics, it’s sweetened with monk fruit, vegan and only 90 calories a scoop. And that one scoop adds 10g of protein to my smoothie!
So now, instead of my banana and peanut butter smoothie, I make a Banana, Chocolate and Peanut Butter Smoothie. AND I’m adding 10g of protein along with even better flavor. Winning!
Bob’s Red Mill sent me some other goodies, too. Let’s start with what I haven’t yet tried (but can’t wait to): the Vanilla Protein Powder (I’m thinking a vanilla-raspberry smoothie to start) and the Grain-Free Paleo Pancake & Waffle mix. But if that waffle mix is anything close to their Protein Pancake mix that we made over the weekend, it’s going to be AMAZING. My boyfriend has mentioned TWICE since Sunday how good my waffles were…and all I did was follow the directions on the Bob’s Red Mill package. They’re very fluffy (especially for a mix!) and we all loved them.
But back to this yummy, healthy Banana, Chocolate and Peanut Butter Smoothie! I promise you, this one is a DO NOT MISS. I’m not one who loves the flavor of most protein powders but there’s no weird flavor here. It really does taste like a shake!

Banana, Chocolate and Peanut Butter Smoothie
I don’t normally measure most of the ingredients here. I usually just put the banana, peanut butter powder and chocolate protein powder in my Vitamix. Add about a cup-ish of ice then add almond milk to almost cover. Play around with it to get the texture just how you like it!
- 1 peeled banana
- 2 heaping T peanut butter powder
- 1 scoop Bob’s Red Mill Chocolate Protein Powder
- 1 cup ice (or to your liking)
- 1-2 cups almond milk (or to your liking)
- Put all ingredients in a high-powered blender. Blend until smooth and creamy. Enjoy immediately.
