Christmas with Safeway

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Safeway. All opinions are 100% mine.

It’s mid-December 2020. Another year is about to come to a close!

The holidays look a little different this year. Every Christmas since I moved to Virginia 12 years ago, my mom has cooked Thanksgiving dinner, my sister does Christmas Eve, and I make a big prime rib dinner on Christmas Day.

I’m still making a Christmas day meal but I decided to go for ham this year. Safeway had a great deal that I couldn’t pass up, so I was able to buy 2 hams and do an early trial run. It will just be me and Rob here on Christmas Day, so this way my girls could enjoy some, too.

Safeway has everything you need to make a delicious meal this holiday season. They have side dishes made in-store side and freshly baked holiday treats ready to enjoy! Plus they have all the ingredients you need to make a delicious meal from scratch.

It might seem crazy to make so much food this year, but after family, the food is what I most look forward to during the holidays. I ordered online from Safeway and got everything I needed to make our early Christmas dinner: a holiday ham, fresh Brussels sprouts and cauliflower, fresh dinner rolls, and the ingredients to make cannoli chips for dessert (recipe coming soon)!

I chose ham since the holidays are already so busy – even this year – and it’s fully-cooked and ready to eat after a gentle heating. It was juicy and tender, and we still have plenty left for sandwiches and egg bakes.

The meat department at Safeway has delicious roasts, hams and turkeys. Unsure of the cut you want? Ask your butcher for help! You can place a custom order with your butcher ahead of time to ensure you have a stress-free, delicious holiday season.

The produce department at Safeway has all the fresh in-season produce to make delicious holiday sides, too. I made a simple roasted Brussels sprouts with a balsamic glaze for dipping. Since I buy Brussels sprouts from Safeway and roast them a few times a month, the easy balsamic reduction still made them special and holiday worthy!

With the cauliflower, I basically made this risotto but used cauliflower rice instead of arborio. I love gorgonzola and this dish is so creamy and rich that it was a nice balance to the simpler ham and vegetables.

Of course, fresh rolls from Safeway were a must, too. And with cannoli chips for dessert, we were all full and happy!

If you decide to do your holiday meal shopping in-store this year, shop during business hours when the stores tend to be quieter. Get any essentials and items that can be stored early. You’ll also find the best deals and choices.

I shopped at Safeway in my local area, but you can also find quality game day products at the Albertsons Companies family of stores, including Albertsons, ACME Markets, Jewel-Osco, Vons, Randalls, Shaw’s Supermarket, Star Market, and Tom Thumb. Want to spend minimal time in the kitchen this holiday season and let Safeway do the hard work for you? Order your entire holiday meal online at order ahead. Simply order online, pick up at the store, and re-heat when ready to serve. Safeway even has freshly crafted appetizer trays that you can order online at order ahead to make the holiday season as delicious and easy as possible. Safeway also offers Grocery Delivery and DriveUp & Go™ for convenient ways to shop!
