If you’ve ever wondered how to make caramel sauce, then this post is for you!
I love caramel sauce. It’s so buttery and creamy, and makes just about any dessert better. The store-bought versions just aren’t the same as homemade, no matter how often I try new brands to see if my mind can be changed. And it’s just so easy to make at home that I’ve completely given up trying. This is the best homemade version I’ve tried, and it just so happens to also be the easiest. It’s a rare day that there isn’t a jar of this in my fridge!
This sweet and delicious caramel sauce can be used as topping to add flavor to cakes, ice cream and many other desserts.
Caramel Sauce
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2/3 cup heavy cream
- 1 t. vanilla extract
Melt the butter in a small saucepan. Add the brown sugar; whisk for two minutes. Add the cream; whisk another two minutes. Mix in the vanilla. Pour into whatever jar you’re using and refrigerate (it will thicken as it cools).
Enjoy!
