What is the Starbucks Oleato Iced Shaken Espresso?
The Oleato Iced Shaken Espresso is a Starbucks drink infused with Partanna extra virgin olive oil. Starbucks characterizes the combination of olive oil and their coffee as a velvety smooth and deliciously lush experience.
The Oleato Iced Shaken Espresso is made with Blonde Espresso Roast, Partanna extra virgin olive oil, Oatly Barista Edition Oatmilk and has been offered with both toffeenut or hazlenut syrups. Of course, as with any Starbucks drink sizes, types of espresso, milk, and flavors and quantities of add-ins are all customizable. Below are the two Oleato Iced Shaken Espresso varieties Starbucks has announced.
Oleato Iced Shaken Espresso with Toffeenut: This coffee-forward beverage offers layers of flavor sweetened with notes of toffeenut, rich espresso, and creamy oatmilk infused with Partanna extra virgin olive oil.
Oleato Iced Shaken Espresso Hazelnut: This coffee-forward beverage offers layers of flavor sweetened with notes of hazelnuts, rich espresso and creamy oatmilk infused with Partanna extra virgin olive oil.
Equipment You’ll Need
Espresso Machine & Milk Frother – I used a Nespresso VertuoPlus Coffee and Espresso Machine in conjunction with a Nespresso Aeroccino3 Milk Frother. However, any espresso machine and milk frother would suffice. You can also experiment with alternative methods for making espresso without an espresso maker. Additionally, there are easy techniques available to froth milk without a frother that you can explore.
Olive Oil Iced Shaken Espresso Ingredients
- Starbucks Espresso Roast: This recipe features the default option at Starbucks, which is the light and sweet Blonde Espresso Roast. However, Starbucks offers other alternatives such as the bolder and more intense Signature Espresso Roast or the Decaf Espresso Roast. Alternatively, you can use your preferred espresso, including other brands of espresso.
- Oatly Barista Edition Oatmilk: This recipes uses the same unsweetened oatmilk that Starbucks uses but you are welcome to use any oatmilk that you prefer. Moreover, both dairy and non-dairy milk options can be used, whatever best suits your taste and dietary needs.
- Partanna Extra Virgin Olive Oil: Starbucks states they add a spoonful of EVOO. I used Partanna EVOO where Starbucks uses Partanna Cold-pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil, which is not yet available in the U.S. You can also use a different brand of high-quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
- Starbucks Toffee Nut or Hazelnut – You can opt for Toffee Nut or Hazelnut syrup, or choose any other syrup that appeals to your taste. Feel free to experiment with different syrups or even combine them and use any syrup brand that you prefer. Make homemade syrup with this Hazelnut Syrup recipe from Starbucks.
