Taco Tuesday Guide
Make your own taco seasoning. In fact, make several of your own taco seasonings. Here are a few different seasoning mixes you can put together to keep on hand to spice things up on Taco Tuesday. For these seasoning blends, mix 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of each together (or more, based on your flavor preference), mix well, and add to your meat before or during cooking, or use as a dry rub.
- Traditional Taco Seasoning: Salt and pepper, chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, cumin, oregano, and a pinch of cayenne or crushed red pepper flakes.
- Blackening Seasoning: Onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, dried thyme, dried oregano, salt and pepper, cayenne pepper (to taste).
You can also make your own tortillas. You can use a tortilla press if you have one, or use a heavy baking dish to flatten the dough or a rolling pin.
- Corn Tortillas: Mix 2 cups of masa harina and 1 1/2 to 2 cups of warm water to make the dough. Roll into small balls, flatten between two pieces of wax paper, and cook on a hot pan for 30 seconds to a minute on each side.
- Flour Tortillas: This recipe is one of the best methods for making flour tortillas at home!
Break out an amazing spread of toppings! You can’t have tacos without the toppings. And what you serve can depend on what type of protein you’ve got — toppings for fish tacos might be different from carne asada tacos. Here are some of the best taco toppings that you’ll want to include in your Taco Tuesday spread.
