This Honey Whipped Goat Cheese Appetizer is simple and sophisticated!
Don’t you just love recipes that have no need for an actual recipe? This honey whipped goat cheese appetizer is one such “recipe”. I’ve never once measured anything, I just throw it in my blender, taste and adjust, taste again…then eat! Don’t sweat it, though, I’m including a recipe in case you forget the ingredients or feel like you still need a little guidance.
Everyone always loves this whipped goat cheese dip, but no one loves it as much as the person who makes it. And only that person will know how simple it was to make yet will still soak up all the accolades. Total win.
Whipped Goat Cheese Ingredients
Just blend up a few simple ingredients, add some crackers and you’ve got a sophisticated whipped goat cheese appetizer in less than five minutes!
- Goat cheese – Use fresh chèvre in its log form rather than in crumbled form. Good quality goat cheese is important.
- Heavy cream – The addition of heavy cream thins out the consistency and lends a creamier and smoother texture to the goat cheese.
- Honey – The sweetness of honey magically complements the tanginess of goat cheese.
- Kosher salt & freshly, course-ground black pepper – To elevate and enhance the flavors of all the ingredients.
- Fresh thyme leaves (optional) – Thyme adds nice earthy and slightly floral flavor notes.
You’ll find the complete ingredients list with amounts in the recipe card below!
How to Make Whipped Goat Cheese
I start with five ounces of goat cheese and a little heavy cream (about a couple of tablespoons). I’ll put all of the ingredients in a blender (my Vitamix, of course!) along with a little honey and coarsely-ground black pepper. Oh, and a little salt, if you prefer.
I’ll go lighter on the honey if I plan on drizzling a little on the top. And I always plan to drizzle a little on the top; it looks so pretty! You can also add a few fresh thyme leaves if you like.
Whipped Goat Cheese Variations
Goat cheese allows for numerous creative combinations. Here is a variety of ingredients to try with goat cheese.
Fresh or dried fruits – Figs, dates, grapes, pears, pomegranate, cherries, or berries.
Nuts – Walnuts, pecans, or almonds.
Herbs – Thyme, rosemary, basil, oregano, parsley, green onion, chives, tarragon, cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes.
Roasted vegetables – Beets, bell peppers, or zucchini.
Surf & Turf – Prosciutto, candied bacon or smoked salmon.
Oils & Glazes – Olive oil, vinegar, balsamic glaze or reduction.
More Ingredients – Caramelized onions, lemon juice or lemon zest.
Substitutions – Replace the honey with maple or agave syrup or the heavy cream with milk, cream cheese or Greek yogurt.

Make Ahead & Storage
This whipped goat cheese recipe can be made in advance up to 5 days.
At room temperature, the whipped goat cheese can be served for up to two hours. If you need to store it, refrigerate it in an airtight container for up to 5 days. However, I advise against freezing this whipped goat cheese dip as it may not retain its airy, light, and soft texture.
