Bacon-Wrapped Pickles (aka Pickle Fries) are the ultimate two-ingredient snack you didn't know you needed. Salty, crispy bacon wrapped around tangy pickle spears? It's the kind of unexpected combo that just works. They're perfect for a party, a quick appetizer, or just for something fun to snack on. Plus they're simple to make, easy to customize, and so addictive!

Why You'll Love This Recipe
Bacon-wrapped pickles are the ultimate party snack! They're easy to make and really flavorful even with just two ingredients. The crisp, smoky bacon pairs perfectly with the tangy crunch of a dill pickle, and adding a dipping sauce is just a bonus.
Here's why they're a favorite:
- Two ingredients: Just bacon and pickles. That's it!
- Great flavor: Salty, a little smoky, and some tang in every bite.
- Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside: They have a nice texture contrast.
- Great for entertaining: These are always a hit at parties and barbecues!
- Oven-baked for convenience: No frying or messing with grease.
- A great low-carb option: You might be eating low-carb or one of your guests, and these are a great choice for serving!
Once you try them, you'll understand why they disappear so quickly!
Ingredients You'll Need
You only need a couple of simple ingredients to make these irresistible bacon-wrapped pickles:
- Pickle spears: Dill pickles work great, but feel free to try spicy or garlic versions (we're partial to Grillos) for something different. Just be sure to pat them dry before wrapping.
- Bacon slices: Use regular-cut bacon (not thick-cut) so it crisps up nicely and wraps easily around the pickles.
- Dipping sauces: Ranch, Caesar, spicy mayo, or your favorite creamy dip all pair well.

How to Make Bacon-Wrapped Pickles
This recipe is as simple as it gets but the payoff is big. All you need are your favorite pickle spears and some regular (not thick-cut) bacon. In just a few easy steps, you'll have a crispy, delicious snack that's ready to serve.
Step-by-step instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (218°C).
- Pat the pickle spears dry with paper towels. This helps the bacon stick to the pickles and prevents them from getting soggy.
- Wrap each pickle spear with one slice of bacon, tucking in the ends to keep it secure.
- Arrange them on a baking sheet. Use a rack on top of the sheet pan if you can as this will help to make them even crispier.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the bacon is golden and crisp.
- Optional: Broil for 1-2 minutes at the end for extra crispiness.
Serve them hot with your favorite dipping sauce (ranch, Caesar, or even spicy mayo work great). They're addictive, so you might want to double the batch!
Tips for Best Results
- Dry the pickles well: Moisture is the enemy of crispy bacon! Use paper towels to pat the pickle spears dry before wrapping.
- Use regular-cut bacon: Thick-cut bacon takes longer to crisp and may not cook evenly by the time the pickles are done.
- Line your pan: Use parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup.
- Use a wire rack: Place the pickles on a wire rack over the sheet pan so the bacon crisps all around.
- Broil for extra crispiness: If your bacon isn't quite crispy after baking, a quick broil (1-2 minutes) will finish the job. Watch them closely to avoid burning.
- Try different flavors: Try different pickle types (dill, spicy, bread & butter) or add a seasoning mix to the bacon before wrapping the pickles. You can also try different dipping sauces, and put out a few choices at a party.
- Serve immediately: These are best hot out of the oven while the bacon is crispy and the pickles are still warm inside.

Flavor Variations
Pickle fries are already pretty irresistible, but here are some tasty variations to try:
- Spicy Kick: Use spicy pickles or add a thin slice of jalapeño under the bacon. Or sprinkle on a spicy seasoning mix to the bacon before wrapping.
- Cheesy Center: Tuck a small strip of cheddar, cream cheese, or pepper jack inside the pickle before wrapping with bacon.
- Sweet & Savory: Brush the bacon with a little maple syrup or honey before baking for a salty-sweet twist.
- Barbecue Style: Sprinkle the bacon with some of barbecue seasoning or brush lightly with your favorite barbecue sauce in the last few minutes of baking. Or both!
- Everything Bagel Pickle Fries: After wrapping, roll the bacon-wrapped spears in everything bagel seasoning.
- Dill Lovers: Add fresh dill or a sprinkle of dried dill on the bacon before baking for a stronger dill flavor.
Dipping Sauce Ideas
Bacon wrapped pickles are incredibly flavorful on their own, but a great dipping sauce can take them to the next level. Here are some tasty pairings to try:
- Ranch Dressing: A classic that's always a crowd-pleaser, and tends to be my go-to.
- Caesar Dressing: Creamy and a little tangy, this sauce pairs especially well with spicy pickles.
- Spicy Mayo: Mix mayo with a bit of sriracha or hot sauce.
- Honey Mustard: Mustard and dill go really well together so it's a natural choice.
- Blue Cheese Dressing: This is especially good with a really smoky bacon.
- Chipotle Aioli : You can't go wrong with a smoky, spicy dip.
- Barbecue Sauce: This is a great choice as-is, or you can mix in a little mayo for a creamier sauce.
Don't be afraid to get creative! These little bites go well with just about any creamy, tangy, or spicy sauce.

What to Serve with Pickle Fries
Bacon-wrapped pickles are a standout appetizer on their own, but they also play well with others. Here are a few tasty ideas to round out your spread:
- Party Platters: Add them to a snack board with wings, deviled eggs, and stuffed mushrooms.
- Game Day Favorites: Serve them with nachos, sliders, or jalapeño poppers.
- Salads: A crisp green salad or a wedge salad is a great choice if you want to turn these into dinner.
- Grilled Meats: Bacon-wrapped pickles are great with burgers, ribs, or grilled chicken. If you're serving sandwiches, a pickle fries on the side is always better than a boring, single pickle spear.
- Dips and Sauces: Offer a few small bowls of different dips, especially if you're serving these for a party.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make bacon-wrapped pickles ahead of time?
Yes! You can wrap the pickles in bacon and store them (uncooked) in the fridge for up to a day in advance. Just pop them in the oven when you're ready to serve.
Do I need to use a rack when baking?
Using a rack on your sheet pan helps the bacon crisp evenly all around, but it's not necessary. You can bake them directly on parchment paper or foil-lined sheet pans with great results. You can turn them halfway through cooking to help them get crispy on both sides.
What kind of pickles work best?
Dill pickle spears are the most common, but you can use spicy, garlic, or even bread and butter pickles depending on your flavor preferences. Just be sure to pat them dry before wrapping!
Can I make these in an air fryer?
Absolutely. Air fry at 400°F for 10-12 minutes, flipping once halfway through, until the bacon is crispy.
What dipping sauces go well with them?
Ranch and Caesar dressings are popular picks, but you can also try spicy mayo, blue cheese, honey mustard, or chipotle aioli for a fun twist.
Are these pickle fries low-carb or keto?
Yes! They're a great choice if you're looking for a low-carb option.

Are these dill pickles ? I love pickles.
I want to make these, just not sure which pickles to use. I only presume that they are dill. None of recipes say which one they are. I'm sure this is a dumb question to some of you, but I just want to be correct when I make them. I'm not a keto person, so just not sure. Thanks !

As many as you like, really 🙂 I would say 3?
Mom says
I’ve made these for years and the only thing I do different is to put a strip of mustard down the length of the pickle before wrapping in bacon. Yummy. Can’t wait to try with ranch dressing.
