OREO Pop Ingredients

These ingredients and the recipe are for Valentine’s Day OREO pops but the ingredients can be substituted for any holiday or celebration by simply changing the candy melt colors and sprinkles. See further below for more holiday ideas.

  • Candy Melts: You can find melts in almost any color to match any celebration. I recommend Wilton candy melts but use what you prefer. White chocolate can be substituted as the white candy melt dipper as well.
  • Sprinkles: Not only can you find any color combination but the fun shapes and sizes to choose from are almost dizzying. From pearl sprinkles, jimmies, sanding sugar, and nonpareils to sports and holiday seasonal themes.
  • Cake Pop Sticks: Also known as Lollipop Sticks, look for 6″ sticks.
  • OREOs: I recommend the Mega Stuff OREO because they hold the stick better, Double Stuff and regular OREOs can work but I recommend the Mega Stuff. There are many OREO flavors to choose from including Toffee Crunch, Chocolate Hazelnut, Java Chip, OREO Joy!, Mint, Birthday Cake, Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, Vanilla, Double Stuffed, Mega Stuff, Lemon, Peanut Butter, Snickerdoodle, gluten-free and many more. Note: some of these flavors are limited editions and seasonal.
  • Wilton Chocolate Decorating Bags (optional): You can drizzle the OREO cake pops with a spoon but I find it easier to use these decorating bags. Do as you prefer.

Any baking supply or arts and crafts store like Michael’s should have everything you need except for the OREOs. Amazon is also a quick and easy place to find everything you need.

How to Make OREO Pops

  1. Melt the candy melts and line a cookie sheet with wax paper.
  2. Separate the OREO wafers and drizzle a dollop of white candy melt on the filling.
  3. Place a cake pop stick in between the two wafers.
  4. Freeze to firm up the stick in the cookie.
  5. Melt the red and pink candy melts and pour the candy melts into decorating bags.
  6. Dunk the OREO pops into the white candy melt until fully covered.
  7. Drizzle the pink and red candy melts over the cookie and then sprinkle the Valentine’s Day hearts on top of the drizzle.

Allow the candy melt to completely harden before serving. They can be stored in the fridge until ready to serve as well.

Substitutions & Variations

  • OREO Cake Pop: Make it an OREO Cake Pop by substituting the Classic Oreo cookie with OREO Cakesters.
  • Dipping Melt Color: Instead of white, use any candy melt color you prefer or a combination.
  • Chocolate Substitute: Instead of using candy melts as the dipper use milk, semi-sweet, dark, white, chocolate chips, wafers, chocolate bars, etc.
  • Icing: Using icing instead of candy melts to draw lines, facial features etc.
  • Frosting: Substitute frosting instead of dipping in candy melts.
  • Nuts & Coconut: Instead of using drizzle or sprinkles, cover the OREO Pops in nuts or coconut.
  • Dip Halfway: Dip the cookies halfway for a different design and look.
  • Box or Styrofoam: Use a cardboard box or Styrofoam to keep the Pops vertical if you prefer to decorate both sides.
  • Party Favors: Make these take home party favors by wrapping each OREO pop in a cellophane bag.
