Mango Margaritas {by the pitcher}

These mango margaritas are refreshing and perfect for a summertime barbecue! Serve as-is or spice them up with a little muddled jalapeño.

It’s never been a secret that I am absolutely madly in love with spicy cocktails.

Everywhere we go, I ask for a cocktail list to see if they offer anything with some spice (and occasionally I’ll request something anyway). I’m not talking Bloody Mary’s, either (although I do adore them, especially if I can find a good Build-Your-Own Bloody Mary Bar). I’m talking jalapeno, habanero, maybe even chipotle.

All of which are fantastic in these mango margaritas. Usually I’ll just muddle a jalapeno slice or two in the bottom of my glass then pour the mango margarita over the top. That way those that aren’t into the spice thing can just enjoy the yummy mango flavor on its own. But you can try infusing your tequila with habaneros and use that for a truly spicy treat. Or just mix some chipotle powder into your salt mixture for the rims – it’s not nearly as spicy and adds a lovely smoky contrast.

But don’t worry if none of those options sound appealing to you – these mango margaritas are fantastic all on their own! They’re the perfect treat for these hot summer months. Try some with this Cherry-Chipotle Salsa – they’re great together!

To infuse vodka with habaneros, place 3 – 4 cups of your favorite vodka into a jar with 4 habanero peppers; cover. Leave for about a week in a cool dry place, then remove peppers when vodka has reached desired level of spice. {If vodka gets too spicy, you can add some regular vodka to tone it down}.

Mango Margaritas {by the pitcher}


  • 1 10-ounce bag frozen diced mango
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
  • 2/3 cup silver tequila
  • 2 tablespoons Grand Marnier
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 cups ice water
  • jalapeno slices (optional)
  1. Place all ingredients except for jalapeno slices in high-powered blender (such as a Vitamix). Blend on high until smooth. Serve immediately.
  2. Optional jalapeno slices: Muddle a jalapeno slice (or more to taste) in the bottom of your serving glass before adding blended margarita. Stir well to incorporate jalapeno.
